Betfair inks Presenting Partner deal for Aussie Millions
Land-based gaming and entertainment firm Crown Limited has announced a deal that will see sportsbetting exchange and online casino operator Betfair serve as the Presenting Partner for its upcoming Aussie Millions Poker Championship 2013.
Set to take place from January 17 to February 3 at the Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex in Melbourne, the Aussie Millions Poker Championship 2013 is set to feature 26 separate attractions including a main event that last year awarded 26-year-old winner Oliver Speidel with $1.6 million in cash.
“We are thrilled to announce that Betfair will be the Presenting Partner for the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in January of 2013,” said Greg Hawkins, Chief Executive Officer for Crown.
“The Aussie Millions is Crown’s marquee poker event and there is terrific alignment between these great established brands. Sport is an enormous part of Australian culture and Betfair’s unique betting exchange is a fantastic complement to the Aussie Millions and our poker patrons.”
Betfair was granted an Australian licence in 2006 and remains the only permitted betting exchange operator in the nation. Using its technology, punters can bet against each other by backing and laying odds of their choosing.
“Betfair has changed the wagering landscape in Australia with its unique betting exchange offering while the Aussie Millions Poker Championship has introduced an innovative tournament that has heightened interest in the game of poker,” said Giles Thompson, Chief Executive Officer for Betfair Australia.
“Already Betfair boasts close to four million customers in over 55 countries and we see this as an invaluable opportunity to engage Australians on the unparalleled benefits of exchange betting.”
