Bees to be stung by Stevenage

Brentford take on Stevenage in League One tonight and while they are expected to win, Paul Robinson thinks that Stevenage can get a positive result.

Brentford were having a fantastic season and pushing for automatic promotion to the Championship but they have dropped to the edge of the play-offs in sixth after a run of results that has seen them pick up just seven points from a possible 21, with only a single victory. They are without a win in four and after a thumping at Yeovil, they failed to beat the relegation threatened Bury last time out.

The Bees worked themselves into such a good position by racking up plenty of home wins. After losing their first game of the campaign at Griffin Park, Uwe Rosler's side went on to win eight of their next 10 at home, but in their last four they have drawn with Bournemouth, Leyton Orient and Bury and lost to Tranmere.

Stevenage are in mid-table but they are only eight points behind Brentford in sixth with a game in hand. A victory this evening would really boost their promotion chances but even just a draw wouldn't be too bad away from home. They have lost three of their last four though and six of their last eight in the bigger picture.

Most of those defeats came at Broadhall Way and they seem to be playing better on the road this season. Gary Smith's side have picked up eight of their 12 victories away from home and they've only lost four times. One of those defeats did come last time out at Carlisle but they were reduced to 10 men after 11 minutes so that can be excused.

Both of these teams have suffered a dip in form lately but with Stevenage being better on their travels this term, at around the 1.84 mark, I have to make Brentford my lay of the day.
