Back Spurs to edge out Saints
Andrew Hughes thinks Tottenham can edge out Southampton on Saturday and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process.
Bet 1: Back Tottenham to beat Southampton at 1.44
A run of three league wins had taken Southampton up to eleventh in the table and to the brink of safety, but they've picked up just two points from their last three and although they have a seven point cushion over Wigan, they aren't safe yet.
Of their remaining games, Saturday's trip to North London looks the trickiest assignment. Tottenham are locked in a scrap with Arsenal for the final Champions League spot, and although they have a game in hand, they can't afford to lose any ground on their bitterest rivals.
Spurs seem to be specialising in 2-2 draws recently, but Southampton have only scored one goal in the last three games, and will go to White Hart Lane in defensive mode. Back the home side to break down their stubborn visitors and earn three points.
Bet 2: Back Delhi to beat Hyderabad at 1.8
Hyderabad are strong favourites going into this game, having won all four of their home fixtures, restricting their opponents to 130 or less in each match thanks to the bowling of Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra.
But I think Delhi can surprise the Sun Risers on Saturday. A week ago they were at the bottom of the table, with one win from their first eight games, but consecutive victories against Kolkata and Pune have stopped the rot.
Both teams rely heavily on their bowlers, but with Virender Sehwag and David Warner in their top order, the Delhi batting has more potential, and it was a good sign for them that young Indian batsman Unmukt Chand was amongst the runs last time. Hyderabad are much weaker in this department and now that Delhi have discovered the winning habit, they can surprise the Sun Risers on their own patch.
Bet 3: Back Sale Sharks to beat London Wasps at 1.5
With just one round of fixtures to go in the Aviva Premiership, a bonus point victory against Wasps on Saturday could lift Sale to ninth; a finishing position that would put a positive gloss on what has been a dreadful season.
For most of it, the Sharks were scrapping with London Welsh at the foot of the table, but a points deduction for the Exiles gave Sale the advantage, and a run of three wins in their last four games lifted them clear of trouble.
For Wasps, a mid-table position may represent progress after last season's tribulations, but after a run of seven successive defeats in all tournaments, the end of the season can't come soon enough. They haven't won away to Sale since 2005 and the Sharks should win this one.
