ATP Miami Masters Betting: Cilic to progress at the expense of struggling Isner
It's fourth round day at the 2013 Sony Open and Sean Calvert casts his eye over the matches involving Andy Murray and Marin Cilic in Miami..
The bad luck continued at the Sony Open last night, with James Blake losing a tight one to Albert Ramos.
We've had some shockers this week already, with Benoit Paire and David Nalbandian both choking and Bernard Tomic failing to show up and Blake's defeat 7-5 in the third was another painful one.
The men's third round matches complete today at the 2013 Sony Open and among the stars on show are Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Murray takes on another of the game's young stars in Grigor Dimitrov after the Scot eased past a lacklustre Bernard Tomic on Saturday night.
The world number three should face a sterner examination from the Bulgarian than was offered by Tomic, but it's hard to see Dimitrov being able to hold his level long enough to be able to take down Murray.
Grigor showed what he can do when taking what should have been a set lead over Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells, but a huge choke when serving for the set allowed Nole to take it and Dimitrov faded badly after that.
It's not a given that Murray will win this in two and at least one set will probably be close as it was when they met in Brisbane at the start of this year, but Murray will surely move through to the fourth round.
But the bet I like today is for Marin Cilic to see off the struggling John Isner at around 1.58.
Since winning Winston-Salem last season Isner has been in the doldrums, with a knee injury hampering him in 2013 and results not going his way. Indeed the big man has worn a weary look all season so far and he had to dig very deep to get past Ivan Dodig in his opening match here after losing first up at Indian Wells to Lleyton Hewitt.
The loss of those ranking points from Indian Wells saw him fall outside the top-20 and today he faces an opponent in Cilic who he has never beaten.
Cilic has accrued a 13-4 win/loss record so far in 2013 with a title in his home nation of Croatia in Zagreb already under his belt and he'll be the more confident of the two players coming into this match.
Cilic has the more solid game from the back of the court, although his forehand can break down on occasion and he has beaten Isner in both of their previous career meetings - one on hard and one on clay and with the American out of sorts I'd expect the Croatian to take advantage.
