Anderlecht to take advantage of Malaga

Anderlecht travel to Spain tonight to take on Malaga in their final Champions League group game and with the hosts already qualified, Paul Robinson thinks the Belgian's can spring a surprise.

Yesterday's analysis of Sevilla and Valladolid proved spot on as Valladolid ran out 2-1 winners to give us our third successful odds-on lay out of four.

Malaga are three points clear at the top of Group C and while AC Milan can tie them for points if they lose and the Italian's win, they would still go through as group winners courtesy of a better head to head record. In some ways you could argue that the Spaniard's have been the surprise package of the tournament thus far as they lost the likes of Santi Cazorla in the summer and had been expected to struggle. However you could also argue that their opponents have under-performed, as both Milan and Zenit have been poor in Europe this term.

Martín Demichelis is definitely missing through suspension for the hosts and manager, Manuel Pellegrini, is expected to rotate his squad as they have an important La Liga game with Granada coming up on Saturday, as it's just one win in six domestically, with three losses.

Anderlecht are bottom of the group with four points but they can still qualify for the Europa League if they better Zenit's result in Milan. That gives John van den Brom's side a huge incentive as they wouldn't really have expected to progress to the knockout phase of this competition anyway.

The Belgian's have already proved they can get a result away from home as they held Milan to a 0-0 draw back in September. They are in great form in general; eight victories from their last nine outings, and they've won their last two on the road by four goals to one.

I'm surprised Malaga are this short given the circumstances of the match and despite their superior class, it's questionable as to whether they will have the desire to win this evening. Anderlecht will certainly have that desire and even a point will probably do for them, so with Malaga trading around the 1.97 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
