Against All Odds: Tigre strikers to earn their stripes
Tigre and Lanus meet in the Argentinian Torneo Final at 00:15 tonight and Paul Robinson thinks that those who stay up late to watch on Betfair Live Video will be rewarded with a few goals.
It's now three consecutive profitable weeks for Against All Odds with last week's five winners from seven yielding in excess of four points profit. The big European leagues may be drawing to a close but there is still plenty of football to get our teeth stuck into over the summer and the next couple of months were actually amongst the most successful in 2012.
Tigre have dropped down to 13th in the table after a run of six points from a possible 24. The Copa Libertadores has likely hindered their domestic progress but they were knocked out by Olimpia on Thursday night and they just have their last half dozen league fixtures to concentrate on now.
Néstor Gorosito will want to see an improvement in their home form as at Coloso de Victoria, Tigre have fallen to defeats in three of their last four - conceding seven goals in the process. The Matadores have at least netted themselves in every game bar one though and three of their last five in all competitions have gone over 2.5 - two of which went over 3.5.
Lanus are up in second place but they've had no Libertadores action to disrupt them. Guillermo Barros Schelotto's side are two points adrift of Newell's Old Boys in first and can overhaul them tonight by winning their game in hand. That should prove a huge incentive and I can't imagine that they'd settle for a draw if the scores are level going into the final minutes of the match.
As far as the goals go, the stats aren't exactly in our favour. Granate have only had two of their six away games go over 2.5 goals this term and they've had 0-0's at Racing Club, Boca Juniors and Union Santa Fe. They did beat Argentinos Juniors 2-1 on their last road trip though and the previous meeting between Lanus and Tigre finished 4-1 in Lanus' favour back in November.
It's probably more likely that this game will go under 2.5 than over, but the odds on unders are just too short at around the 1.65 mark. It's most definitely value to take it on at that price, and that's why I'm making it my lay of the day.
