Against All Odds: Saints to march past Celtic
Celtic are a very short price for their trip to St Johnstone in the Clydesdale Bank Premier this evening and Paul Robinson thinks they are definitely a value lay.
Two goals in France at half time. Two goals in France at full time. The luck was against us yesterday as Dijon and Monaco finished one goal short of what we required. Let's hope we have better fortune today.
St Johnstone are hovering on the edge of the top six so to win their game in hand would be a huge boost to their chances of qualifying for the championship round. Three points tonight would actually see them move up to third and put a bit of daylight between themselves and Aberdeen in seventh.
Steve Lomas' men have won three of their last five in the league and only lost five of their last 22 in total. At McDiarmid Park they have had back to back victories lately and the only major blot on their copy book since the start of November was a 1-0 defeat to Hibernian towards the end of 2012.
Celtic put the disappointment of their Champions League loss to Juventus behind them on Saturday as they thrashed Dundee United 6-2. That was their sixth straight victory in the league and it sent them 18 points clear at the top.
The Bhoys have had a couple of setbacks on the road recently though as they've lost two of their last four; a 1-0 defeat at Hibs was followed by a 3-2 loss at St Mirren in the Scottish Cup at the end of January. Neil Lennon's side also have a mixed record with St Johnstone this season as from three games played, they've won just one and they lost 2-1 the last time they faced them away from Celtic Park.
With the title all but wrapped up there is potential for Celtic to be complacent from time to time till the end of the season. Add in the Saints' solid home form and the fact that they lost the last time they travelled to Perth, then their price does seem very short at 1.49 and that's why I'm making them my lay of the day.
