Against All Odds: Milan to struggle against Roma

12May 2013

Serie A 2010/11

Tonight's live action on ESPN comes from Milan at 19:45 and despite their odds-on quote, Paul Robinson thinks that Roma can get a result in the San Siro.

AC Milan made a slow start to the campaign as it took the team a while to gel after many of their senior players left in the summer. They've fought back well though and while they are set to finish well adrift of Juventus and Napoli, they are highly likely to finish third and qualify for the Champions League.

Massimiliano Allegri's side have won their last three, although prior to that they'd gone three without victory. Their form at the San Siro has been tremendous of late - 12 wins and a draw from their last 13 - and that includes a 2-0 success over Barcelona.

Roma suffered a shock 0-1 reverse at the hands of Chievo on Tuesday but that was their first defeat since the end of March and new boss, Aurelio Andreazzoli has turned them into a force to be reckoned with.

The Yellow-Reds produced a hugely resilient performance at the in-form Fiorentina last weekend to not only win, but to keep a clean sheet as well. That made it back to back victories away from Stadio Olimpico and while tonight's test will be sterner, the players will know that they have to get a result if they want to keep their hopes of a top five finish alive.

It's hard to pick holes in Milan's form but they are a little bit too short given the standard of the opposition. They are currently trading around the 1.72 mark and that's why I'm making them my lay of the day.
