Against All Odds: Goals galore in vital Argentinian clash

San Martin De San Juan are fighting hard against relegation from the top flight of Argentinian football and with victories a must, Paul Robinson thinks that those who tune into Betfair Live Video at 19:10 could see goals galore in their match with Estudiantes.

San Martin De San Juan were staring relegation in the face at the beginning of April following a run of 16 without a win. A 6-1 mauling of Boca Juniors was the catalyst for a magnificent late charge up the table that has seen their three year points average get to within 0.07 points of safety.

Ruben Darío Forestello have won their last three on the bounce and in the wider picture they have taken 19 points from a possible 27 of late. The goals have been flowing as seven of their last nine have all gone over 2.5, with five going over 3.5 and the Boca victory going over 6.5. The club from San Juan have needed to be that prolific as despite their good form, they've managed just one clean sheet during that period.

Estudiantes don't really have much to play for as they aren't going to get anywhere near winning the Torneo Final and they're seventh of 20 in the relegation standings. Interestingly, similarly to their opponents, Estudiantes brought a run of 11 without victory to an end by beating Boca Juniors, and since then, they've gone on to be unbeaten in their next five.

Mauricio Pellegrino is slowly beginning to implement his style on the team since his appointment at The Rat Stabbers earlier in the year and that has seen them keep it very tight at the back. Their last 11 have all gone under 2.5 goals and their last two results have been 0-0's.

It would seem odd that I'm suggesting a lay of under 2.5 goals given those Estudiantes statistics but this really is make or break for San Martin De San Juan. Argentinos Juniors have a very winnable match at home to Colon that kicks off at the same time and San Martin's final game of the season is away at title chasing River Plate. I foresee all-out attack from the home side, and that's why, with under 2.5 goals trading as low as 1.7, I have to make it my lay of the day.
