Against All Odds: FC Oss to continue good form at Veendam

Veendam face FC Oss in Holland this evening and while the Betfair market is predicting a comfortable home win, Paul Robinson isn't so sure.

Veendam have dropped to 10th in the Dutch Jupiler League after losing three of their last five matches. They did manage to beat Cambuur 11 days ago which was a fantastic result, however they were aided by the fact that their opponents were reduced to 10 men with the score at 1-1. They couldn't build on that last time out though as despite taking a 1-0 lead away at Den Bosch, they capitulated to lose 4-1.

Gert Heerkes' side have been pretty solid at home though and they had picked up 10 points from a possible 12 prior to the 4-0 loss to Volendam in their last game at De Langeleegte. That result just concerns me a bit as they have started to suffer a few hammerings lately and it could signify a return to their form at the start of the season when they lost three of their first five on home soil.

FC Oss had a wretched end to last season and they carried that on at the start of this one. They have since got their act together though and it's just two defeats in 10 for TOP. Just last week they held league leaders Sparta Rotterdam to a 1-1 draw at home and their results on the road have been even better.

Anton Janssen's men are unbeaten in four - two wins and two draws - all of which came against teams in the top half of the division. They netted eight goals in that period and even managed a rare clean sheet against Fortuna Sittard at the end of February.

Oss won this fixture last season and while they may not repeat that, I think they are quite likely to avoid defeat. That's why with Veendam trading as low as 1.83 I have to make them my lay of the day.
