Against All Odds: County to continue superb away record

Brentford are odds-on for their League One clash with Notts County this afternoon but the visitors have proved extremely hard to beat on the road in recent times and Paul Robinson thinks we could be in for more of the same today.

Last Saturday I recommended a lay of Swindon who faced Notts County at home. The game finished 0-0 as County stood firm and held on for yet another away draw.

Brentford have slipped to fourth in League One after having their game with Sheffield United postponed last weekend. It's incredibly tight at the top, especially for the second remaining automatic promotion place as just three points separates second to seventh. The Bees have at least one game in hand over their rivals though - bar Sheffield United - so their destiny is in their own hands.

The Bees got over a recent pair of defeats by winning their last two matches. They beat Swindon and Preston, although they had to come from behind against the former and needed an injury time penalty to beat the latter. Those two victories came at home and their record at Griffin Park has been exceptional this term. Uwe Rosler's men have lost just twice and won 12 of their 20 league games there.

Notts County are stuck in mid-table, unable to challenge for the play-offs but sufficiently clear of the relegation zone to have any concerns about going down. They haven't really been losing many games, it's just that they haven't been winning many either. Under Chris Kiwomya, The Eagles have avoided defeat in nine of 11 fixtures, yet they recorded just three victories during that period.

Away from Meadow Lane, County have an incredible record of three losses in 410 days - a spell of 30 games. They've now drawn their last four in a row on the road, and that included trips to Swindon, Tranmere and Walsall, who like Brentford, are pushing hard for promotion to the Championship.

This should be a tight affair as County will look to soak up pressure and hit Brentford on the break. The draw is a real possibility here so with the home side trading as low as 1.82 I have to make them my lay of the day.
