Against All Odds: All Boys to man up at Velez

Argentina - Torneo Inicial

Velez Sarsfield take on All Boys in the Argentinian Torneo Final at 00:30 tonight and Paul Robinson thinks that those who tune into watch on Betfair Live Video will see the home side struggle.

Colombia did the business for us yesterday meaning it's now five winners from the last six selections and a four point profit for the week thus far.

Velez won the Torneo Inicial in the first part of the season but with their place in the Championship Final already secured, their performance in this second phase of the campaign has been poles apart. After 16 matches played they are down in 18th place with just 15 points. While they haven't technically had anything to play for, it's not exactly ideal to be in such poor form ahead of the Championship game and it's not just the league they have suffered in as they were knocked out of the Copa Libertadores in the round of 16.

Ricardo Gareca's side have won just one of their last 12 in the league - losing five and drawing six. They won their last encounter at Estadio José Amalfitani - 2-0 over Quilmes - but prior to that they hadn't been victorious since the beginning of March. Velez are also missing the trio of Francisco Cerro, Ariel Cabral and Fernando Gago from midfield and Gino Peruzzo at the back.

All Boys ended a miserable run of form with a shock 2-1 win over leaders Newell's Old Boys earlier in the week. The result was quite extraordinary given that they'd lost their last three and hadn't scored a goal in four, but somehow they managed to inflict a defeat on arguably the best team in the country. That result was on home soil but it gives them something to build on for their final three games of the season.

José Santos Romero's men have struggled on the road in the Torneo Final. Their current record reads; played eight, won one, drawn one and lost six. They will at least take heart from the fact that all bar two of the losses were by a single goal margin and that they were reduced to 10 men in four of the eight fixtures. It is also worth noting that Albo have won on their last two visits to this ground.

Velez Sarsfield are seemingly treading water before the Championship Final and with All Boys being lifted by the win over Newell's, I can see the away side taking something here. That's why, with Velez trading around the 1.86 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
