99-1 Madrid rock City in Euro classic
The Bernabeu serves up a classic as Real Madrid refuse to lose against Manchester City...
Real Madrid touched 100.0 on Betfair as they edged 1.21 Manchester City in a five goal thriller on a dramatic opening night to the Champions League 2012-13.
Twice City went ahead, but on both occasions they were unable to hold their opponents for long and with the game locked at 2-2, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the decisive goal of the contest. City spent approximately nine minutes in the lead during the game.
All five goals were scored in the last 21 minutes of the game - a flurry that saw over 4.5 goals backed at 150.0 in-play on the exchange and the 3-2 final score at 190.0.
Real are 5.00 to win the Champions League with City out to 13.50. Given Roberto Mancini's men were not expected to get anything from the game their current price could well have some long-term trading potential.
There was considerably less drama in the other seven fixtures though Arsenal did claim a come-from-behind win at Montpellier to reward in-running backers at 6.00.
Their hosts, last year's Ligue 1 champions, scored from the spot on nine minutes but conceded twice in the next ten minutes as the Gunners continued their excellent Champions League record in France. Arsenal are 20.00 to win the trophy this year.
Paris St Germain put their relatively poor home form behind them with a 4-1 drubbing of Dynamo Kiev. PSG never got above 1.83 on Betfair and can be backed at 20.00 to win the Champions League.
At the San Siro, AC Milan were unable to get the better of Anderlecht, drawing 0-0. The stalemate was backed at 5.90.
Elsewhere there were wins for German duo Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. Dortmund, the Bundesliga champions, rewarded backers at 5.90 with a late goal to defeat Ajax. Schalke won 2-1 at Olympiakos.
Malaga enjoyed their Champions League debut with a 3-0 defeat of Zenit St Petersburg while Porto had little trouble seeing off Dinamo Zagreb, winning 2-0.
